Porto Katsiki Beach

Porto Katsiki is a beautiful beach located in the south-west of the island of Lefkada. This stunning beach is the most famous beach on the island and attracts visitors from all over the world. The beach is located very close to the southernmost part of the island, Cape Dukato (also known as Cape Lefkatas) and is easily accessible from either Athani village or from Vasiliki village.

Accessing Porto Katsiki: Roads, Views, and Parking

The new road that was opened in the last few years has made it easier to reach Porto Katsiki from Vasiliki village, making it more accessible to visitors. On your way to the beach, you will be greeted by a huge white cliff that stands tall behind the beach. This stunning cliff provides an amazing backdrop to the turquoise blue water and is an incredible sight to behold.

Upon reaching the beach, you will find parking available above the beach. From there, you will have to take a few steps down to the beach, but the stunning views will be worth it. From the parking lot, there is also a narrow path and bridge that will take you to a rock opposite the beach, where you can get a bird’s eye view of the beach and the cliff.

Unfortunately, this bridge has collapsed in the 2015 Lefkada earthquake. The damages have not yet been repaired as of late 2023.

Facilities, Food and Drinks at Porto Katsiki

While on the beach, you will find a few kiosks that sell food, beverages and local products, but there are no big restaurants, bars etc. If you’re looking for a place to have a meal, you can find some restaurants/tavernas a few minutes away from the beach by car.

Unlike many other beaches, Porto Katsiki does not have any private sunbeds/umbrellas to rent, so it’s best to bring your own or simply enjoy the sun and the sea. The beach is covered with very small white pebbles, so it might be a good idea to bring some water shoes or flip flops to make your visit more comfortable.

Beach Experience: Sands, Waters, and Cruises

The water color of Porto Katsiki is a beautiful turquoise blue that is truly breathtaking. The crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming, snorkeling or simply relaxing. However, after some point in the morning, small cruise boats start arriving and make a swimming stop for their passengers. This can be a little disturbing, but the beauty of the beach still shines through.
