Many people who travel to Lefkada island in Greece simply want to be able to relax and take in the sights. However, many visitors enjoy the challenge of finding hidden beaches that aren’t on most maps.
There are many beaches and coves on the island. Some of these are big tourist attractions, but there are also some lovely secluded beaches that are not well-known and therefore less crowded, making them perfect places to camp or have a quiet swim or snorkel. Let’s take a look at the small, hidden and secluded beaches in Lefkada worth seeing. This list will also give you an idea of where they are located.
Secluded Beaches near Agios Ioannis / Lefkada Town
Kryoneri Beach - On the westernmost side of Agios Ioannis Beach, where the road ends, a walking trail starts, leading to the chapel of Agios Ioannis Antzoussis. A couple minutes of walking further on the same trail leads to Kryoneri Beach. A small sand and pebble beach with refreshing cold water. Thus the name “Kryoneri” which means “Cold water” in Greek.
Secluded Beaches in and near Vasiliki
Kolivata Small Beaches - Four small beaches located at the outskirts of Vasiliki, next to the last houses of the village on the way to Agiofili Beach. This area is called Kolivata and the locals gave the four beaches the imaginative names First, Second, Third, and Fourth Beach. The beaches are pebbly and partly rocky in the water. They are convenient for a quick swim, as they are very close to the center of the village.
Valta Beach - A secluded beach near Agiofili Beach, closer than 400 meters from it. Valta is a small naturist friendly beach with pebbles, surrounded by rocks on the sides and a green scenery in the background. Parking is available on the roadside, around 200 meters from Valta, or at the nearby parking of Agiofili.
Secluded Beaches near Ammoussa Beach
Chamosfakida Beach - The unpaved road along the coastline on the west side of Ammoussa Beach leads to the area of Kastri. Chamosfakida beach can be reached after a couple of minutes walking (300 meters) on that road. The beach is in a small cove right next to the road and there is space only for a few people. Passing through a bushy “tunnel” on the side of the road takes you to the beach after a few meters. It is not easy to find, as this “entrance” to the beach can easily be missed.
Kastri Beaches - Kastri is around 1 km away from Ammoussa and there are at least two adjacent beaches there, each in a cove. The first one is accessible on foot, going down some steps from the road. It can be found on Google Maps as Standing Stones Beach. The second is Orfanogianni Beach.
Orfanogianni Beach - Located in a beautiful cove on the other side of Kastri, hidden behind a steep cliff and not easily spotted. This beach is only accessible by boat to the public. It can also be accessed on foot through a private path on the west side, but this is available only to the customers of the nearby villas.
Lagkadaki Beach - Following the coastline unpaved road east of Ammoussa beach, Lagkadaki beach is reached after 650 meters. 2 minutes by car or motorbike or an 8 minute walk. This beach is also in a cove, surrounded by big rocks and bushes. These are tall enough to provide perfect shadow both in the morning and in the afternoon hours. It has white pebbles and clear waters, ideal for snorkeling. There is also a cave close to the beach.
Secluded Beaches in and near Sivota/Syvota
Ksylokeratidi Bay Beach - A remote beach located in a cove, 10 minutes by car south of Sivota village. The road from Sivota is unpaved after some point. Parking is available on the road and the beach is reached after a very short walk in the nature, through a steep rocky path. Natural shade is plenty on this beach because of the surrounding vegetation. On the left side of the beach there is also a stone paved platform extending into the water. Being in a cove, Ksylokeratidi is protected from big waves and the water is calm. It is pebbly both outside and inside of the water.
Sivota Beach - Small beach in the Sivota bay, opposite the harbor.
Secluded Beaches near Poros / Mikros Gialos
Lila Beach - A tiny beach next to Mikros Gialos that fits only a few people at a time. Pebbly with a little sand and large rocks in the water.
Two small beaches can be found on the west side of Mikros Gialos bay (or Rouda Bay) that are easily accessible by boat.
There are also a couple of tiny secluded beaches between Mikros Gialos and Desimi Beach, on the southeast of the island, accessible only by boat.
Secluded Beaches near Geni and Desimi Beach
Alonaki Beach - Very small pebbly beach on the west side of the Desimi Bay. Accessible through a dirtroad starting from Desimi. It can be reached after around 15-20 minutes walking (1.3 km).
Kamari Beach - Kamari Beach can be reached in about 1.5 km further south on the same road. It is relatively big (around 100 meters long) and pebbly. The road stands exactly next to the beach and camper vans might be parked there at times. For more privacy, there are a couple more smaller beaches a few minutes southern on foot.
Lakka Beach - Lakka stands east of Desimi beach and is accessible only by boat. Organized boat cruises from Nidri as well as people with rented motorboats stop here regularly for a swim. It doesn’t get very crowded but it is not completely private either.
Ellomeno Beach - A small beach among a green scenery on the east side of the Geni peninsula. Accessible by car from a dirtroad starting from Desimi. As parts of the road can be difficult, going there by boat is an alternative.
